How color matching actually works

To match a brand or a previous batch, provide a Pantone (PMS) reference and, if possible, a physical sample to match against. Then approve a physical pre-production sample under daylight — monitors and phone screens misrepresent color, especially for translucent and pearl. Agree an acceptable tolerance in writing, because pigment lots and effects naturally shift a little.
